The letter from the Ministry of Education, which officially recognises Redwood kindergarten, 1970
This meant the kindergarten was eligible for the Government grant and subsidies of the day.
Funding has been an ongoing challenge for our kindergartens over the last 100 years, but it’s a challenge that we have consistently adapted to. Whether it’s the reintroduction of the Government’s Capitation Grant in 1935 or Kidsfirst’s own initiative to offer free kindergarten hours to families, we have always found a way to do what’s best for our children and their whānau.
“The hope of the nation lies in its children.” – A. Peppler, Acting President, 1920/21
