Abstract BannerLinwood

Linwood Kindergarten opened in October 1928. As one of our oldest kindergartens, it has been part of some significant changes over the years. Below are some extracts from Kindergarten Chronicles on Linwood Kindergarten’s past excursions.

The children of Kidsfirst Linwood back in 1947

“Linwood – Many excursions were enjoyed by children and staff, the most thrilling being a visit to the blacksmith – the return journey being made in a horse drawn cart.” – Majorie Suckling, Director, Christchurch Kindergarten Chronicle, 1938.

“Sixty children have enjoyed varied activities which included a picnic at Woodham Park on a lovely sunny day, the Kindergarten’s tenth birthday party, “open mornings” and a harvest festival.” – Christchurch Kindergarten Chronicle, 1946.

More recently, Linwood Kindergarten has been central to the rebranding of the Association. The below image is of the kindergarten children celebrating the Kidsfirst’s new look with a cake.
