Isleworth Kindergarten opened on the 1st of February 1967.
When Isleworth Rd opened, it was a time of great societal change.
You never know what you’re going to learn at kindy.
Kindy teachers had just been included in the Education Act 1964 as members of the education service and school certificate had become the minimum qualification for kindergarten teacher training.
In the wider community, television and space exploration were exciting. Young children everywhere had a future that would have seemed unimaginable only a few years prior.
Despite all this change the focus of the kindergartens and its dedicated teachers was always on doing the best for the children. This is something that had remained true since our first kindergarten was established in 1911, and some 50 years on, still remained constant.
Since then Isleworth has had to adapt to many more societal changes but the core philosophy of kindergarten stays true; “the more things change the more things stay the same.”
The winners of the kindergarten’s “X-Factor” tournament, inspired by the famous singing competition.
Over the years, Bunnings Warehouse have dropped by to donate some equipment and help tamariki set some plants.
