Greymouth Kindergarten opened on the 18th of September 1961 and was a central part of the community in promoting early learning, right from the very beginning.

In 2006 the children of Kidsfirst Greymouth could claim to be published authors and illustrators, after releasing their own original story ‘The King of the Jungle’.
Like many of Kidsfirst Greymouth’s activities over the years, the book was an exercise in self-expression, team work, leadership, and decision making as well as literacy skills.
It’s these sorts of activities that Kidsfirst Kindergartens have been involved in since the very beginning and what makes kindergarten such a great start in life for our children.
Visits from a local Police Officer are a common occurrence at kindergarten, whether they’re stopping by to show off the car, or lending a helping hand.
