For generations, Kidsfirst has provided quality early childhood education for tamariki, learning through play – the kindergarten way. Though our network may have expanded over the decades, our philosophy has remained the same.
Take a look back to see what’s changed, and what hasn’t.
Kidsfirst Kindergartens has a proud history, dating back over a hundred years.
Within that century a lot has changed, yet so much has stayed the same. Those fundamental principals upon which kindergarten was founded still hold strong across our Association.
The smiles on the faces of the tamariki who come to us to play and learn with their friends is another constant. So is the drive to make these ‘early years’ of learning the foundation for lifelong success.
Having a legacy that dates back well over a hundred years, with around 70 kindergartens today (and a few we’ve loved before but have shut their kindy gates), there’s so many pieces of content and photos it’s taking us time to update everything.
We’re busy going through the backs of cupboards and collecting old snapshots from kindergartens and communities. So, this site is still a work in progress.
Most of the kindergartens shown here only have content leading up to our Centenary celebrations. We’re constantly adding to these, but it takes a while.
If you have memories that you’d like to share with us, please get in touch.
